Watercolor class meets again!

I forgot to take a photo, but this image shows some of what the lesson included. Our same group met again and this time, we painted a landscape with the beautiful San Francisco Peaks. But first for some new techniques - learning to apply a frisket to save some white paper, and applying paint once it was removed, then sponging for carefree trees and painting soft clouds in a sunny blue sky! Oh  yes, and some spatter, salt and spray for a loose meadow of grasses and flowers. I'll just have to leave it to your imagination. But we resume classes in July, details here.

Watercolor class - painting sunflowers!

We had a good time learning new watercolor techniques and then applying them to a painting of a sunflower. Wet, dry, salt, spray, soft edges, hard edges, color, value, blooms or not  - so much to take in, but look how happy my students look with their beautiful paintings! I think they all had fun and are looking forward to next week and some new techniques! Thank you Ruth for organizing this group.

Grand Canyon Serenade

Today is the 10th wedding anniversary for my nephew, Jon and his wife, Erin. It was shipped a couple of weeks ago and they have finally opened their package! Jon had asked me to paint this Grand Canyon Serenade from a photo they had taken during their trip to Arizona last year. It was a special trip from their home in Ontario, Canada and I'm so glad to have painted a keepsake memory for them. Congratulations Jon and Erin - wishing you many more years together!
